The Very Grumpy Easter Egg Hunt - Bird Diecut Challenge

Happy Friday!

Our challenge this week for Stuck On U Sketches was to use a bird diecut. A subject for this challenge didn't really jump out at me. So, I started cruising my usual SVG web stores and I came across these grumpy looking chicks from Lettering Delights. The minute I saw them, I burst out loud because I knew exactly what I was going to do with them!

Papers: Bazzill Basics, Lilybee Designs, Crate Paper; SVG's: Lettering Delights (For Peep's Sake), Lori Whitlock (Easter Candy Set); Alpha Stickers: American Craft Thickers, Echo Park, Crate Paper, Jillibean Soup; Glitter: Stickles by Ranger, Martha Stewart, Making Memories; Misc: American Crafts roller date stamp, Fiskars punch, Hero Arts enamel dots, unknown photo corners

I cut the chicks and jellybeans from coloured cardstock and then applied matching glitter to make them look more "Easterish". I love how cutesy the page looks in contrast to the dark photos of grumpy teenagers. ;)

Please be sure to check out all the lovely work the ladies have done at SOUS and why not submit a card or layout with a diecut bird.

Thanks for looking!

Live Out Loud - SOUS Diecut Challenge "Flowers"

Hello again,

This week's diecut challenge at Stuck On U Sketches blog was to use flowers. And when I saw that, I knew I would have to use my Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Florals die. When this die came out, I preordered it from the US and paid an arm and a leg for it. I've used it a bit, but not nearly as much as I thought I would. So, my personal challenge was to use that die!! ;)

Papers: Bazzill, Echo Park; Buttons: Fancy Pants; Paint: Folk Art, Plaid; American Crafts date stamp; Ribbon; My Minds Eye, Scraptivity, Offray, Font: Stencilia-A; Cuttlebug, Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Florals and Elegant Flourishes

I've had this Instagram photo of Julia on my desk for a while now, but I didn't know how to scrap it. And then PaigeTaylorEvans, a Garden Girl on Two Peas in a Bucket, did a video in April, showing how to lay ribbon underneath a diecut title. I fell in love with that technique and I had to try it out with that picture. I chose black cardstock to match the photo and with the ribbon underneath, I thought it had a neon feel to it, and the Everyday Eclectic collection from Echo Park suited the theme. (I know it's not neon, but it's the closest thing I had to it!) To make the paint splatters, I watered down acrylic paint quite thinly and splattered the paper with a long bristled brush.

I can't tell you how much I love this page! It's very different from how I normally scrap and yet it's not, all at the same time!

So, now it's your turn! Come upload your creations using diecut flowers at the SOUS blog. We'd love to see your work!

World's Greatest Cat Mom - SOUS Diecut Challenge "Mom"

Hi there!

Happy National Scrapbook Day! If you are a scrapper, I hope you are planning a little scrapping time this weekend.

This week's Stuck On You Sketches diecut challenge was to use something to do with "Mom". Now, I could have done a layout about my mom or myself, but I did a little tongue and cheek page documenting Julia's relationship with her cat.

Papers: Echo Park, Crate Paper, Pink Paislee; Die Cut: The Lady Wolf SVG, CK Racer font; Stickers: American Crafts Alpha, Basic Grey, Echo Park, My Minds Eye; Stamp: Elle's Studio; Embellishments: My Minds Eye enamel dots, We R Memory Keepers floss, Coats metallic thread, photo corners, glassine envelope

To say that Julia treats Jukka like her baby would be a gross understatement! She even calls him "Baby". And Jukka LOVES Julia! He follows her wherever she goes in the house. Here he is getting a can of tuna to celebrate his 2nd birthday. It was his first taste of tuna and he didn't like it. HA!

This SVG is from The Lady Wolf Blog. Be sure to check it out. She has some cool SVG files for free! This particular SVG said Worlds Greatest Dad, but I just used my own font to cut out "Mom".

I was so excited when I went to the post office for work and our stamps where in this glassine bag. Right away, I pocketed the bag! ;) The journaling is written on the tags and then tucked into the bag. The photo doesn't really show it, but in real life the glassine just gives a very nice texture to the page. I can't wait until we need more stamps!

Be sure to stop by the Stuck On U Sketches Blog to see all the amazing work the other design team members created. And we'd love to see what you can create with a die cut of "mom". It can be the word itself or of a mom.
