Good Friends

I'm back!!  I took last Monday off from updating my blog because I've been taking night courses for work and life just seemed to come at me all at once.  But, that didn't mean I wasn't scrapping. Nope. That just meant that I was scrapping into the wee hours of the night to get the new vacation album done.  ;)  And I'm pretty proud that I managed to get it completed in time for the celebration of life get-together for our friend, Troy.

So, since I missed last week, I'll be uploading a couple extra layouts. ;)

Again, I used the Graphic 45 Tropical Travelogue collection with bits and pieces thrown in from my stash. And in the interest of time, I kept the pages fairly simple.

Papers: Bazzill Basics, Graphic 45; Stickers & Diecuts: Graphic 45; Fiskars Punch; Buttons: Basic Grey; Kerri Bradford Digital Diecut shape cut with Cricut and SCAL

I just love Kerri Bradford's digital diecut shapes! By the time I got to this page, I was starting to run out of time. So, in a few minutes, I had this great diecut that filled the two spots beautifully! And I'm so grateful that I still have SCAL to work with my Cricut. I like the flexibility of using a cartridge or SCAL. But, that's a whole other blog post, for another day. LOL!

Papers: Bo Bunny, Bazzill; Kerri Bradfor Digital Diecut shap cut with Cricut and SCAL

Papers: Bazzill Basics, Graphic 45, Crate Paper; Stickers & Diecuts: Graphic 45, My Minds Eye, October Afternoon, Echo Park, Pink Paislee, Makin Memories; Washi Tape: K & Company

Papers: Bazzill Basics, Graphic 45, Bo Bunny; Stickers & Diecuts: Simple Stories, Graphic 45, Crate Paper; Alphas: Simple Stories

I'm not sure if you can tell, but in the group shot above, we are all frowning because we are sorry to leave. It's tradition that we take a sad shot while waiting for the shuttle to the airport. But this is the final page in the album and we are smiling.

Papers: Bazzill Basics, Graphic 45; Stickers & Diecuts: Graphic 45 (unknown Friends sticker); Alphas: American Crafts Thickers; Misc: Fiskars & Martha Stewart punch, Ribbon and twine

This album means a lot to me. We all laughed and reminisced while looking through it and it reminded me of WHY I scrapbook. Sure the pretty paper and the cool techniques speak to my creative side, but in the end, it's to chronical all our stories because we just never know what could happen.

We miss you, Troy.

Thanks so much for looking!

Nuevo Vallarta 2006

So, if you read my blog on a regular basis, you know I've been working on a vacation album for the last year. And thankfully, I am almost finished the album. So, what new project would a sane person start working on? Maybe catch up on all the photos from the last year that went unscrapped? Or maybe a hockey album for her son?

Nope. This insane person started another vacation album of ....  Mexico!!! *sigh*

These photos are from 2006 when went to Nuevo Vallarta/Puerto Vallarta with a group of friends. I never scrapped the photos of that trip. Heck, I never even printed the photos! And now sadly, one of those friends passed away recently. The group of friends are getting together soon to celebrate his life and I thought it would be nice to have the album to reminisce over.

So, I decided to do a very simple Project Life-style album. I may have stumbled onto something here! I was able to put 107 photos in the photo sleeves in about an hour. Now, I just have to scrap a small 4x6 opening and usually it has journaling on it! ;) This slow scrapbooker is loving how fast I can complete a page.

I did scrap a full layout for the title page.

Papers: Bazzill Basics, Graphic 45; Stickers & Diecuts: Graphic 45; Alphas: American Crafts Thickers; Brad: My Minds Eye; Misc: Floss, 7 Gypsies stamp, Fiskars Threading Water Punch

But the rest of the album will be completed in divided page protectors from We R Memory Keepers and the Graphic 45 Travelogue 8x8 papers. I'm also hoping to use up the rest of my travel embellishments.

Papers: Graphic 45; Stickers: Graphic 45, Tim Holtz; Alphas: October Afternoon; Misc: Cricut title (Going Places), 7 Gypies stamp;

Papers: Graphic 45; Diecuts; Graphic 45; Chipboard embellishment: Making Memories

You Are So Loved

Well, life has been hectic around here to say the least! My son recently tried out for the Youth 16 Provincial Team and was fortunate enough to make the team. So, we will be on the road this week which means that I've been frantically doing laundry and packing.

Needless to say I haven't done a lot of scrapping lately, but it was Brian's birthday this past weekend, so I made this card for him. It's based on the Finally Friday card over at Two Peas in a Bucket and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I just got the new Echo Park This and That collections and I couldn't wait for a chance to play with all the pretty papers!

I did have a bit of a calamity though when I spilled a full glass of water all over my new collections! I hadn`t cut a single piece of paper and they were soaking wet. :(  So, since the papers were already buckled and warped, I just went with it and distressed the card even more. Good thing I like that look!

Papers: Echo Park, Bazzill Basics; Stickers & Diecuts: Echo Park; Flowers: Prima Marketing: Stick Pins: My Minds Eye; Gems: Hero Arts; Stamp: Tinbox for Scraptivity

And here is another page for the vacation album. Still trying to use up some old stash and there are lots of old products here. There`s a definition diecut from My Mind`s Eye Wild Asperagus line and an unknown postcard, but the oldest product I think would be the palm tree. It`s a Provo Craft vellum sticker that I mounted on cardstock, cut out and then mounted on foam squares. I think it`s my favourite element on this page. I LOVE that!! ;)

Papers: Bazzill Basics; Bo Bunny, Fancy Pants; Embellishments: Fancy Pants Design; Maya Road, Provo Craft, Crate Paper, My Mind`s Eye, Scenic Route; Stamps: 7 Gypsies; Tinbox for Scraptivity; Miscellaneous: Rhinestones, Black Soot Distress Ink

Happy Accident

Happy Monday!

This weekend, I worked on the last few photos for our vacation album. I probably have only 3 pages left to do. WOOHOO!

I'm already pre-planning pages that have nothing to do with beach, Mexico or sun.  I'm even looking forward to scrapping hockey photos.... and I hate scrapping hockey photos! ;)

This page is a bit of a departure for me since it uses so much yellow. I'm not usually a fan of yellow, but I needed something to contrast all that blue.

Papers: Fancy Pants, My Minds Eye; Diecuts, Rubons & Stickers: Fancy Pants, Studio Calico; Alphas: Lily Bee Design; Brads: SEI; machine stitching

I haven't loved a page this much in a long time as this next page. And it came together so quickly, it was scary! I used all scraps and bits of old products. But, I think it's the journaling I love so much.

"Dear Nick,
Why oh why does every vacation album have a photo of you doing this pose? FYI, if I don't take photos of you, someday you'll accuse me of liking your sister more that you. I'm just trying to spare you years of resentment and possible therapy, so JUST LET ME TAKE THE DARN PHOTO, WILL YOU?
Love, Mom
PS: And it wouldn't kill you to smile once in a while, either."

LOL! He's going to be pretty annoyed with me when he reads this, but I speak the truth! ;)

Papers: Bazzill Basics, Bo Bunny; Diecuts and Stickers: Bo Bunny, Echo Park, Studio Calico; Punches: EK Success, Fiskars, McGill; Stamp: Tinbox for Scraptivity; Alpha sticker: Fancy Pants; Misc: Cricut title, Glossy Accents, Distress Ink
