Live the Life You Love...

Hi there!

This week I'm sharing a hockey page. And this is one of my favourite hockey photos, ever! I love how you can see both Nick's face and his jersey number/name. It was taken by Jamie Fitzgerald who takes photos at all the Golden Rockets home games and many away games, too. She does a fantastic job! You'll be seeing a couple more photos in the next few weeks.

Papers: Teresa Collins, Crate Paper, Unknown; Embellishments: Teresa Collins,
Studio Calico, My Minds Eye, American Crafts; Stamps: Heidi Swapp, 7 Gypsies,
My Minds Eye; Stampin Up Embossing Powder, Glimmer Mist

I am trying to make a dent in my scraps and I found this old piece of Crate Paper that I think was part of their very first line! And the My Minds Eye rub on in the background is very old and was a great way to add a little texture to my photo cluster. I love it when old supplies work well with new supplies.

Thanks for looking!

With Brave Wings She Flies

Hi there!

Today I am sharing a very special birthday card I made for my daughter's 19th Birthday.

I was inspired by a card that Tammy Tutterow posted on her blog. I just loved the quote and thought it was perfect for my daughter who is just finishing her first year of college and has done so well.

For the background, I coloured one side of an embossing folder with some Gellatos. I sprayed the folder quite liberally with water and ran the paper through the Cuttlebug. I used a wet paintbrush to blend in any white areas that the Gellatos didn't colour and let it dry.

Once it was dry, I tore the edges, and used my Distress Tool and Vintage Photo to make it look grungy. I stamped the butterfly with Archival Ink and filled in the blue with Gellatos and a water brush. Then to give it a little shimmer, I used a Wink of Stella brush pen.

This is such a fun technique and I love how I started with a white piece of cardstock and finished with this dramatic card.

Fan Favorite

Hi there!

Now that Nick's hockey season has been over for some time, I thought I had better get the rest of his hockey photos scrapped. His graduation is coming up in only a couple ofmonths and I know that those hockey pics would never even get printed, never mind scrapbooked!

So, here is the first of three hockey layouts that I wanted to get done. Which, is funny, because it really isn't much of a hockey page, per se.

Papers: Echo Park Designs, Embellishments: Echo Park, Simple Stories,
American Crafts, Studio Calico, Heidi Swapp, EK Success; Stamp: Heidi Swapp;

This is an older collection from Echo Park, but I love the masculine colours of this line.  I haven't done the journaling on this page yet, because the story is kind of personal. It's funny how I find that empty journaling card so glaring!

I have had the "Favorite" acrylic stamp from Heidi Swapp for sometime and I knew it would work perfectly for my title, but I didn't want to risk stamping over the layers of paper. So, I stamped it on paper, wet embossed it and then fussy cut around the word.  I love it!

See what I did with this embellishment cluster? He played for the "Rockets". And he won a "fan" award. LOL! I giggled to myself the whole time I put that together. ;)

Angry Bird

Hi there!

I'm not much of a "theme" supply scrapper. And I usually don't do cutesy either. But for some reason, this travel album is very themed and cutesy!  Oh well, I'm going with it and I'm really liking the results.

Papers: We R Memory Keepers, Fancy Pants: SVG Cuts: Kerri Bradford,
Scrapbook & Cards Today; Miscellaneous: jute, Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher

Like last week, I used up some really old papers from my stash. These We R Memory Keepers papers have the little birds on them and I thought that if this wasn't the perfect layout for the subject, I didn't know what would be.

And I can't help but smile when I see this page.
