Thinking outside the box....

Happy Monday!

I had a very good scrappy week! My CHA prizes came in from Two Peas in a Bucket. I was so lucky to win two prizes; one for the Elle's Studio video comments and one for chatting with Wilna Furstenburg. Then, I found out that Canadian Scrapbooker is going to publish another one of my layouts. And it's a page that has a lot of special meaning for me, so that's even more of a bonus.

Here are pics of the goodies I won. I received all the Elle's Studio goodies shown in the video.

And here is the chat prize. Look at all that My Mind's Eye goodness!!!

I don't win prizes of any kind very often, so this was pretty exciting! So, I got to work using some of the Elle's Studio pretties, right away.

I love the new trend of using cut-outs on the background page. So, I challenged myself to give it a go. And I am so happy with the results. I also challenged myself to go through my older photos and pick from those. When I came upon this photo, I remembered that I had a plan for the journaling, but do you think I could remember what it was??  I think it had something to do with Nick's eyelashes, but I can't tell you that for sure. *sigh*  After staring at the picture for a while, the premise for the page just came together.  In the end, this probably makes for a better story than my boy's eyelashes. They are still pretty spectacular, but now that he's 15, he probably thinks this story is less embarrassing. ;)

Papers: Bazzill Basics, October Afternoon; Stickers & Alphas: October Afternoon, Echo Park; Journaling cards & diecuts: Elle's Studio; Buttons: Basic Grey, My Mind's Eye; Misc: My Mind's Eye washi tape, floss, Studio Calico & Tattered Angels mists; 7 Gypsies stamps

I made the chevron cutout using my Expression and SCAL. It's just the "greater than symbol" (I know that has a proper name, but I can't remember it!) and I just copied and pasted it down the sheet. It was super easy! I'll be doing this technique again. Probably with a title next time.

Thanks for looking!

2nd Year Bantams

Happy Monday!

Just a quick layout for you, this week. I'm still plugging away at hockey photos. I only have one layout left for this year. Just in time for the new season to begin in a couple weeks!

I'm getting pretty sick of using orange for Nick's hockey pages. To say orange isn't my favourite colour, would be an understatement. So, for this page, I just ignored it and went with the blues, greens and reds of the Echo Park Times and Seasons collection.

Lots of layering, but basically a very simple page. And eventually, I'm going to have to do a page without banners, but I love them so!!

Papers: DCWV, My Minds Eye, Echo Park; Diecuts & Stickers: Echo Park, Stamping Station; Alphas: Crate Paper, EK Success, Cricut (Base Camp); Misc: Floss, Vintage Buttons, machine sewing, staples

Photos from Julia's iPhone

Happy Tuesday!

Once in a while, I like to go through Julia's iPhone photos. She has inherited my love of photography and she gets some pretty cool shots! I think they are very telling of how Julia spends her time. ;)

So, with her permission, I downloaded a bunch of her pics and did a page with them.

I'm still having a love affair with Lily Bee Design products. They are just so easy to use and I love the bright colours. And even though doilies have been a scrapbooking trend for quite some time, I only just bought a pack a few weeks ago. I LOVE them! Why am I always late following trends??

Papers: Bazzill Basics, Lily Bee Design, Echo Park; Embellishments: My Minds Eye brads, Tim Holtz filmstrip, October Afternoon Diecut; WeRMemory Keepers twine; Martha Stewart punch; Alphas: American Crafts Thickers, Lily Bee Design, Basic Grey

I matted the photos on a piece of paper torn from an old photo album that I had in my stash. It's an old-style scrapbook, that I used for a travel album and these where extra pages. So I pulled them out to use on other work.

Thanks for looking!
