SOUS Challenge - Deer Diecut

Happy Holidays!!

The Stuck On U Sketches Diecut Challenge asked us to use a "deer" diecut. I knew this was a perfect embellishment to go with my Christmas photo from a few years ago.

Papers: My Mind's Eye, Echo Park, Lilybee, Bazzill, Neenah; Stickers: Echo Park, My Minds Eye; Diecuts: Cricut & SCAL: Unknown SVG of reindeer, Kerri Bradford title; Cricut Carts: Plantin Schoolbook, Going Places; Punches: Martha Stewart, EK Success, McGill; Unknown Vellum, Magenta Mesh paper, Unknown rhinestones & ribbon

I cut the reindeer from an old SVG file. I can't find the source, (sorry), but I know there are loads of deer/reindeer cuts out there. Then I stamped and embossed a snowflake on the diecut and decorated him with a punched wreath. I cut the title from a Kerri Bradford file. I love her stuff! I cut it with Neenah cardstock and I tell ya it cut like buttah on the Cricut! I cut the title three times and then glued them together. With such a delicate font, layering the cut gives it more depth. I thought the kraft cardstock was a bit too pale, so I inked it with some vintage photo distress and now I think it looks a little bit like wood. I love a happy accident!

I did lots of layering under the photo using different types of mediums: papers, vellum and mesh.

I want to thank everyone who visits my blog and those who leave such lovely comments. They mean the world to me.

Merry Christmas everyone and have a wonderful New Year!

SOUS - Toy Diecut Challenge

For my first challenge on the Stuck On U Sketches blog, we had to use a die-cut of a toy. Well, since my kids are older and all my "toy" layouts were done years ago, it had me stumped for quite a while. But, then Nick came to my rescue when I asked him to prepare a Christmas list for me. Instead of presenting me with a real list, he gave me this silly one. And as with most 15 year old boy humour, it was totally inappropriate!

Papers: Echo Park, Crate Paper, Bo, Bunny, Bazzill Basics; Stickers: Echo Park, Fancy Pants; Die Cuts: Cricut (Indie Art, Fabulous Finds), Fancy Pants, Elle's Studio, My Mind's Eye; Stickers: Fancy Pants, Echo Park; Brads: Teresa Collins; Misc: Paperclips, Distress Ink

Some of my favourite "wants" were:

- Love
- a pair of socks that doesn't have maggoty holes
- a day my parents don't drink so I can see who they are without being drunk
- keys to the house so I don't have to sleep outside on nights you guys forget about me
- something besides bread and water for dinner for once

Oh how I long for the day when his wishlist was full of toys!

It's hard to see, but I raised the file tab with popdots and tucked his original list inside for safe keeping.
