Birthday Card - Yvonne

Hi there!

I just have a quick post today of a card I made for my friend, Yvonne. I hadn't made a rolled flower in a while. The fad of them has kind of faded. But, I love how I was able to coordinate my flower with the rest of the papers. I'll have to remember to do this again. And I used a very old Making Memories journaling spot! Woohoo! Hoarding pays off, one more time!

Papers: Neenah Cardstock, Pebbles, vintage book, Making Memories; Diecuts: Two Peas in a Bucket
digi cut file, Laina Lamb SVG, SVGCuts; Stamps: Kaisercraft; Brad: Echo Park

Not sure how I'm going to get the card in an envelope, though. :)

Moving Up - SOUS Diecut Challenge "Stars"

Hello there!

It's been a busy couple of weeks around here. Hockey season has officially begun. And my 16 year old son has moved two hours away to play Junior B hockey. We have been on the road to watch games and to see him A LOT! But we are proud and excited for him at this new stage.

So in honour of hockey season, I figured what better way to use this week's Stuck On U Sketches diecut challenge of "Stars" than to do a hockey layout. Now, if you've read my blog for a while, you know how I don't like doing hockey pages. And this one, is using photos that are almost a year old. So, since Nick's on a new team, I figured I better get these photos scrapped.

Papers, Die cuts & Embellishments: Teresa Collins; Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Cricut Cartridge: George, Base Camp; Stickers: My Minds Eye, Simple Stories; Printable Tab: Two Peas in a Bucket Digital; Metallic watercolours

Using Design Studio and my Cricut, I cut the little stars in the Teresa Collins chalkboard paper, sprinkled it with metallic water colours, sewed around the edge with metallic gold thread, then mounted it on dimensional adhesive to give the shadowed look. The journaling card between the photos is also adhered with popdots. It's a very dimensional page and it looks so much better in real life! :)

Be sure to check out the SOUS blog and check out the beautiful creations that the very fabulous design team has on display there.

My Happy Place - Gate Diecut SOUS Challenge

Hello!

This week's Stuck On U Sketches challenge was to use a gate diecut. Well, I didn't use a gate, but I used a fence. And I'm going to call that close enough. ;)

Papers and embellishments: Teresa Collins; alpha stickers: American Crafts Thickers, Prima Marketing, Teresa Collins; Cricut Cart: Stamped; Cuttlebug embossing folder: woodgrain; White Signo Pen

I thought a wooden fence would be great for the subject of my layout. But, I couldn't find an SVG file nor did I have one on a Cricut cart. So I made my own with Cricut Design Studio and the Stamped cartridge. I welded the number sign (#) a couple of times in the Shorty creative key. I flipped a couple around so that it wasn't perfect; just like an old wooden fence. I cut it from kraft cardstock, then ran it through my Cuttlebug using a woodgrain embossing folder. I inked it with distress stain and voila! - a wooden fence. I fussy cut the drapery from some Teresa Collins diecuts which dressed it up a bit.

So, now it's your turn! Why not join us at the SOUS blog and show us what you have created with a "gate" diecut.
