SOUS 100th Sketch Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stuck on U Sketches 100th Sketch Blog Hop! I'm so glad you could join us! If you are following along, you just came from Tracey G's  blog. If you get lost at any time, just go back to the SOUS blog and find your place. :)

When I saw the sketch below, I knew exactly which photos I wanted to use. These are of my daughter's first formal dance.

There are no earth shattering techniques here; just lots of paper layering, embellishment clusters and distressing.  But the sketch allowed me to keep the focus where it should be... on my beautiful girl.

Papers: Echo Park, Carta Bella, Unknown Vellum, Bazzill Basics; Title: Thickers by American Crafts & Cricut (Type Candy); Stamps: Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday, Tin Box for Scraptivity; Embellishments: My Minds Eye & Studio Calico gems, Creative Impressions brads, unknown doily, Stickles, Studio Calico Date Stamp

I used a Kerri Bradford SVG file to cut some snowflakes out of the irridescent vellum. My Cricut machine had a difficult time cutting out the circles, so now it looks embossed. Not the look I was going for, but since every snowflake was the same, a happy accident! ;)

Don't forget to start following the Stuck on U Sketches blog to be entered into a draw to win some great goodies! And if you leave a comment on my blog, I'll do a random draw for a RAK of my own!  Just remember to leave a comment before midnight MST February 7th and I will announce the winner on February 8th.

Now head on over to Shona's blog and see the loveliness that she has created with this sketch!

Thanks for looking,
Sylvie

It's A Small World - SOUS Challenge Diecut Wreath

Hi there!

This week's die cut challenge from Stuck on U Sketches is to use a wreath around your photo. I was pretty excited about this challenge since I've had this idea brewing in head for my Canal Days Parade Float album for a while now.

Papers: Amy Tangerine for American Crafts, unknown cardstock; Stickers: American Crafts, October Afternoon, Echo Park; Embellishments: My Mind's Eye washi tape, Studio Calico wood veneer butterfly, unknown globe and star paperclip, Fiskars tab punch, American Crafts date stamp

I used the Going Places Cricut cartridge and DesignStudio to make this globe with "potty people" surrounding it. Then I backed it with a metallic silver paper. I found the original Amy Tangerine background paper too plain, so I added some distress ink in green, blues, pinks, and orange to the corners and edges to add distressing. I then added some small embellishments to mimic Project Life. And while I liked the page, the minute I added those Amy Tangerine Thicker letters, the page just came to life (and the song was now stuck in my head!!)

And now for something exciting! Stuck on U Sketches will be celebrating their 100th sketch on February 1st with a blog hop! Be sure to stop by the blog to start at the beginning of the hop. There will be a tonne of inspiration from the very talented group and did I mention prizes?

Thanks for looking!

For The Love of the Game - SOUS Diecut Challenge

Happy Friday, everyone!

Today's Stuck On U Sketches challenge was to pull a "Switch-a-Roo"! Meaning that we were to substitute a diecut for a letter in a title. And an added challenge was to use scraps. And goodness, I have many scraps to choose from. And none more coveted than the old Chatterbox collections. Remember those?? Remember the rooms? I have been hoarding, ummm, storing these wonderful papers for many years. And these scraps from the Den collection have been in my blues folder for far too long, now. So, I figured there was no time like the present and I pulled them out. And I am so glad I did!

Papers: Bazzill Basics, Stampin Up!, Chatterbox, Core'dinations; SVG Diecuts: Echo Park (iDiecut.com), SVGcuts, Lettering Delights, Cricut: Fabulous Finds; Punches: Fiskars, McGill; Misc: Bo Bunny Gems, EK Success Washi Tape, Buttons, Twine, American Crafts Date Stamp, Scraptivity alpha stamp; Crate Paper Diecut

For the title, I found these svg files at Lettering Delights. The puck for an O was easy, but I fussed for quite some time with the hockey stick A. But, in the end, I am very happy with how it turned out. The hockey player is from iDiecut.com. Great SVG files that cut like buttah! Sorry for the blurry photo. I photograph my layouts on the floor and my kitty was trying very hard to use my page for a mat to sleep on. I had to snap the photo quickly!

Usually, when I try to use older product, I have a difficult time making the page feel new. But, I think the addition of the new embellishments like the washi tape and the Bo Bunny gems, makes it feel fresh and modern.

Thanks for looking! And be sure to check out the other great pages over at Stuck On U Sketches!
