Happy Hour

Hi there!

Here's a quick and easy layout I did using a Paper Issues sketch.  I rotated the sketch and did the mirror image but basically, I stayed true to the sketch. ;)

Papers: American Crafts (Shimelle, Pink Paislee), Bazzill Basics Cardstock; Embellishments: American Crafts (Shimelle), My Minds Eye, Basic Grey, 2 Peas In a Bucket, Simple Stories; Unknown die cut

Nothing fancy here.  I wanted the title and the photos to be the focus especially the big Vegas beers! LOL!

Looking Back On Our 25th Anniversary

Hi there!

I'm up today with an anniversary layout that also doubles as a Las Vegas vacation layout.

I knew when I saw this paper from the Shimelle Go Now Go collection that it would be perfect for this photo of my husband and I at the Bellagio, on the evening of our 25th Anniversary.  The whimsical images of a house, car and travel spoke to me about the life that we have built together and matches the whimsical photo.

The flower stickers and diecuts that are part of the Go Now Go were all used up in previous layouts, so I started hunting in my stash.  I found these My Little Yellow Bicycle diecut flowers and thought they matched perfectly.

The journaling is stamped with a set of alpha stamps from Close to My Heart.  It took a good hour to stamp, but I am really happy with the results. The glittery title was made with a Tim Holtz/Sizzix die. It was cut from silver glitter paper and fun foam to make my own glitter thickers.  It was a bit lost on the busy page, so I outlined the letters with a blue Zig marker to give them a bit of a boost.

The little people are made from a very old punch.  I only have the boy shape, so I made the little girl a skirt and glued it on top. To make them look like chipboard, I glued many layers of punches together.  The heart and sun are made the same way.

This page is busy, but I think it matches how our lives have been for the last 25 years.  We have a busy life. But, we wouldn't have it any other way.

Thanks for looking!

The Day I Became A Beer Drinker

Hi there!

One of the challenges of combining 12x12 pages and pocket pages in one album is when you have enough photos for a pocket page on one side of the page protector, but only a single photo for the other side. I decided to try scrapping a 12x12 layout in a pocket page.  I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!
Papers: Maggie Holmes, Pink Paislee; Embellishments: AC Digitals (Pink Paislee), My Minds Eye brads, unknown rhinestones; Close To My Heart alpha stamp, American Crafts date stamp

I started with a piece of Maggie Holmes Bloom background paper and cut it to fit the pockets.  Luckily, my page protector had a 4x4 opening in the centre, so I printed my photo to fit and embellished all the remaining pockets as if it was a regular 12x12 layout.

I ADORE these flowers from Pink Paislee. I love the colours and the whimsical shape of them. But, there were none left in my stash. I went searching on line for a digital version and was delighted to find them on the AC Digitals site.  I printed them onto white cardstock and fussy cut them. Doing embellishments this was is great because I was able to print as many as I wanted and in whatever size I wanted.

The small pink letter stickers are done with a Close To My Heart Alpha set and the "a beer drinker" was cut with my Silhouette. I cut the title four times out of cardstock and glued them together.  Then I covered them with glossy accents to give them some shine.  Once it was dry, I used a Micron 03 pen to outline the letters.  It's pretty rough, but it gives it a funky look that matches the subject.  ;) I added glossy accents to the centre of all the flowers to give them a bit more interest, as well.

I just love how this turned out. It was so fun to do. In real life, you don`t even notice the pockets of the protector.  And the silly photo is certainly centre stage. I`ll be doing this technique again!

Take Me Away

Hi there!

I'm back to working on my travel album of our trip to Las Vegas.

I had hoarded the pink map paper from the Crate Paper Shine collection for almost a year to use with these photos.  It was quite satisfying to finally get them out of my stash!

The nice part about using Crate Paper products is that it usually works with all the other collections and even some American Crafts lines. There are products here from a couple Crate Paper  and Shimelle collections. The filler cards are from the first Shimelle collection. I used a veerrry old shoe print stamp to stamp the footprints on the green card. I had quite a long story to tell, so using some washi tape I made a flip card and tucked the journaling side into the pocket and will leave the flap on the outside of the pocket.

I didn't have a photo of Terry Fator or the Fashion Mall, but Google did!! I love using Google images for filling in any missing photos of vacation albums.

Pretty happy that I hoarded that map paper!
