Happy Day

Hi there!

Today I'm sharing a layout I made using a sketch provided by the Paper Crafters Unite - Cranbrook Facebook sketch for November. I thought I better get this done before they post the sketch for December!

Papers: Pink Paislee, Crate Paper; Stickers: Heidi Swapp, Crate Paper,
American Crafts, My Minds Eye

This is a pretty simple page, with a split personality. You see, I started the page with the Pink Paislee Atlas line. But, then before I was able to finish the page, the new Maggie Holmes Shine collection arrived at my door.  Hmmm. Does a person start all over with the pretty new supplies? Or does that person just start fussy cutting flowers to embellish the page she already started? She does the latter. It certainly helps that they worked well together. Both lines have the soft greyish white backgrounds so it's easy to mix and match.

Thanks for looking!

Denial

Hi there!

Today, I'm sharing another layout that I did as part of the 2Peas Refugees message board November Crop. This challenge was to use a die cut and I used a great one from Ashley Calder, who generously created some free cut files from her Etsy store, Things That Shine for the crop.

Papers: Bazzill Basics, American Crafts, Echo Park; Embellishments: American Crafts,
Crate Paper; Miscellaneous: things that shine cut file, October Afternoon mist, EK Success date stamp

The die cut helped me to use up some more branding strips. I love them, but after a while, a person can get quite a bundle on their desk! Shimelle's collection is perfect for a masculine page. I struggled for a while, thinking about a title, but then I drew inspiration from one of her journaling cards.

I kept the photo cluster pretty simple so that the page didn't get too busy. And I used one of my typewriters to type the journaling. Easy Peasy!

Canal Flats Class of 2015

Hi there!

Today I'm up with another layout of Nick's grad. I got inspiration to create this page from the November challenges over at the 2PeasRefugees message board.

Papers: Echo Park; Embellishments: Echo Park Stickers, Heidi Swap Chipboard & stickers,
October Afternoon brads, unknown rhinestones; Alphas: My Minds Eye, American Crafts; Martha Stewart Punch

I love working with a sketch. Especially when I've been scrapping on a specific event for a while. And since I'm in the middle of scrapping Nick's grad, it couldn't have come at a better time! It was just the inspiration I needed.

The Stash Buster challenge was to use something old and something new. This Echo Park paper collection is a few years old and I mixed it with some newer Heidi Swapp gold chipboard and stickers.  I thought this collection helped tie in all the colours from the photo.

I apologize for the glare. It's cold and rainy here, so I had to take the photo indoors. One more reason to dislike winter. ;)

It's a Guy Thing

Hi there!

Just a simple layout today using some diamond shaped diecuts.

Papers: Bazzil Basics, My Minds Eye, American Crafts, Bella Boulevard;
Embellishment: Cuttlebug die, Studio Calico cut file, American Crafts, My Minds Eye

I cut the diamond shapes using a Cuttlebug die and sewed the pieces onto the cardstock. And to soften the graphic design, I added the flower diecuts and stickers. I didn't have much space left to add the journaling, so on the left, I placed the flower cluster onto a hidden journaling tag. I haven't added the names, yet.
