Hello there!
I have to confess that when I saw this week's Stuck on U Sketches challenge I was a bit stumped. This Russian and French family doesn't have much use for shamrocks. But then I saw this quote on Pinterest and my mind started reeling with possiblities!
In the new year, it was the 15th Anniversary of our children's adoption and this song lyric summed up how I was feeling, perfectly!
Papers: Kaisercraft; Worldwin; Diecuts: Lori Whitlock SVG, Kaisercraft, Fancy Pants Design; Stickers: Echo Park, American Crafts Thickers; Stamps: Technique Tuesday, Studio Calico, Scraptivity, Basic Grey, Stampin Up!; Inks: Distress Ink by Ranger, Stampin Up!, Colorbox; Brads & Gems: My Minds Eye, Bo Bunny, Punch, McGill, Unknown Doily
So, I thought I was done with the shamrock. Challenge completed. But, then I had another idea. I still had a Canal Days Parade page to do that could probably use a shamrock or two. Or ten. So then, I made this:
Papers: Amy Tangerine for American Crafts, Pink Paislee, Unknown Metallic; SVG: Lori Whitlock (shamrock, rainbow) Unknown (witches feet); Flowers: Petaloo; Cricut: Candy Type; Alphas: American Crafts Thickers, My Minds Eye; Sassafrass felt monkey, Prima stamp, Unknown sequins, DMC floss
Be sure to stop by the Stuck on U Sketches and see all the other beautiful projects from the design team members. And why not try submitting a project using a diecut shamrock? We'd love to see what you can come up with!
Thanks for looking!
Sylvie
I have to confess that when I saw this week's Stuck on U Sketches challenge I was a bit stumped. This Russian and French family doesn't have much use for shamrocks. But then I saw this quote on Pinterest and my mind started reeling with possiblities!
In the new year, it was the 15th Anniversary of our children's adoption and this song lyric summed up how I was feeling, perfectly!

The shamrocks are an SVG file from Lori Whitlock. I had a difficult time trying to match cardstock with the patterned paper, and this is the closest I could come. So, I used white ink and a linen patterned background stamp by Stampin Up! to give it a little more texture and make it work with the patterned papers. Then I inked the edges of the diecuts and papers in Vintage Photo Distress Ink (my go-to distress ink!).
It's so fun to scrapbook these parade photos. The pages can be as tacky as I want them to be! LOL! I did a complete homage to all things "Oz" - a flying monkey, the poppies, the witches feet, a yellow brick road background, a floating house and, of course, a rainbow. The photo isn't picking it up, but the shamrocks and the OZ are made from a metallic green paper that has been in my stash forever.
I guess I do have a use for shamrocks in my life. And I'm pretty happy about that. ;)
