Julia Enters the World of Cars - SOUS Diecut Challenge "Disney"

Hi there!

Can you believe summer is almost half over? I hope you have been making the best of the season.

This week's Stuck On U Sketches diecut challenge was to use anything to do with Disney. Now, I'll be honest and kind of freaked out when I saw that. We've never taken the kids to Disney and while my husband and I went to Disneyland for our honeymoon, those photos were scrapbooked long ago.

But, I kept the challenge in the back of my head for a while and then life threw me this perfect opportunity. My 17 year old, bought herself a car. :)

Papers: Simple Stories, Bazzill Basics, Unknown metallic papers; Diecuts & Stickers: Simple Stories; SVG files: KLDezigns, SVGCuts, Going Places Cricut Cart; Embellishments: Prima gems, My Mind's Eye brads; Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher; Stamps & Ink; Pink Paislee, Kaiser Craft, American Crafts, Stampin Up!

When I started looking for ideas on how to scrap car photos, I stumbled upon SVG files of the "Cars" movie on KLDezigns and I thought the logo would be perfect for the title. I chose to use the car diecut from the Going Places cartridge instead of a Cars character, just to keep it a bit more grown-up.

Canal Days Parade Floats - SOUS Diecut Challenge "Flourish"

Hi there!

Hope you are having a lovely summer. This week's Stuck On U Sketches diecut challenge was to use a flourish on our project. TheTim Holtz Sizzix flourish die was my first ever die purchase. I have loved it and used it so many times. I have many flourishes on many different Cricut cartridges, but this flourish is always the one I use. ;)

For this challenge, I used it on the title page for my Canal Days Parade Floats album.

Papers: Amy Tangerine (American Crafts), Bazzill Basics, Little Yellow Bicycle, Petaloo; Alphas: Simple Stories, American Crafts Thickers; Embellishments & Stickers: Little Yellow Bicycle, Die Cuts With a View; unkown buttons

The rosettes are from the Paper Crafting Kit by Little Yellow Bicycle that I received in a kit. When I saw them, I didn't think I'd ever use them, but then I discovered that they worked very well with the older Amy Tangerine collection and matched the parade theme perfectly. I love it when I can use newer product with old. And since they've done all the cutting and scoring for you, it took no time at all to do the rosettes. The glittered paper from Petaloo gave the flourishes a bit more pop and matched the glittered centre of the clear flowers from LYB.

So, with my title page finished, my parade album is now complete. Until next year when we do a new float. ;)

Be sure to stop by the SOUS blog to see all the other beautiful projects from the design team. And we'd love to see your projects using a flourish, too!

Thanks for looking!

Pink Lady & T Bird - SOUS Nifty Fifties Diecut Challenge

Hey there!

Glad you could stop by!  This week's Stuck On U Sketches challenge was to use anything to do with the 50's. When it was announced to the design team, I have to admit I did a little happy dance in my scraproom. I knew that this month, my group of friends was going to do a "Grease" themed parade float for our annual community celebration. PERFECT!

I was able to do two layouts with the same theme. This first one will go in our family album:

Papers: Bazzill Basics, Prima, Simple Stories; Diecuts: Miss Kate Cuttables, American Crafts, Simple Stories, Echo Park, Two Peas In A Bucket, Chatterbox; Stickers: Simple Stories, Echo Park, American Crafts; Stamps: American Crafts, Hero Arts, Misc: American Crafts floss and flair, Mr Hueys mist, Tim Holtz paperclip, Queen & Co washi tape, typewriter

And this next page will go in my Canal Days Parade Album:

Papers: Bazzill Basics, Sandylion, Paper Patch, Amy Tangerine; Diecuts: Miss Kate Cuttables; Stickers: Sandylion, My Minds Eye, Pink Paislee; Miscellaneous: Studio Calico wood veneers, Fiskars punch and patterned scissors, My Huey's mist, Heidi Swapp rhinestones,

The Miss Kate Cuttable Happy Days set and the Rock Around the Clock set were perfect for my theme!  I had so much fun making all the little elements. And I was able to use some really old papers and stickers from Prima, Sandylion and Paper Patch for these pages. I love being able to use up old stash. Makes being a hoarder pay off. LOL!

Here are some close ups of the diecuts:
