Love You

Hi there!

I was so excited when Shimelle Laine announced that she was bringing back her YouTube series, "Glitter Girl". I love Shimelle's work and her videos are always inspiring. And now she has started a weekly challenge on her blog! This week the challenge was to use hearts. Here is my submission.

Papers: Pink Paislee, Shimelle, Crate Paper, Basic Grey; Embellishments: Heidi Swap,
Crate Paper, Glitz Design, American Crafts; Mists: Mr. Huey's, Tattered Angels, Ranger

This is actually my second attempt at this layout. My first page was finished but I thought it needed a few more black splatters.  To get the large blobs of ink, I use a large round paint brush and drop the ink to make a splatter. The ink puddle takes a bit of time to dry because the background is covered in gesso. So once the splatters were done, I started cleaning up my space. Without even thinking, I picked up the page to move it. The black ink went EVERYWHERE! Luckily, the photo and embellishments were okay, but the background looked awful. So, I pulled them off the background and cut the outside border off the page with an exacto knife. I glued it on a new piece of paper which had been re-inked (including the black splatters), then stuck everything back on. Sheesh!

The leaves are very, very old vellum diecuts that have been in my stash since the 90's.  I think they are from Paper Attic?? It's always so rewarding to use up old stash.

I've been inspired to scrap a lot in the last couple of weeks because of Glitter Girl. She certainly has been missed. I'll have a couple more layouts to post in a few days.

Thanks for looking!
Sylvie

  1. Well saved and if you hadn't told us we would never have known. Love the colour combo of Black & Yellow with just the hint of extra colours

  2. Very pretty layout. Clever way to cover a little mistake but you end up with a stunning layout.
