Hat Trick - SOUS Diecut Challenge "Numbers"

Hi there!

This weeks Stuck On U Sketches diecut challenge is "Numbers". And as luck would have it, I had the perfect opportunity to scrapbook the number 3.

Hockey season is upon us and my daughter, Julia, is playing her last year of hockey. She has never scored a goal in all the years she has played. Until last weekend. And she not only scored once, but she scored three times in one game.... a "hat trick". SO EXCITING! I had to scrap the story right away!

Papers: Bazzill Basics; Jillibean Soup; Embellishments: Jillibean Soup; Fancy
Pants Design; Pink Paislee, American Crafts Thickers; Cricut: Printing Press;
Art Supplies: Studio Calico Mists; Gesso, gold metallic thread;

This is such a fun technique that I've wanted to try for a long time. I first cut out the large three from a piece of cardstock. Then using that as a template, I adhered every number three I could find in my Thickers stash on a second piece of cardstock. Once all the space was filled up, I painted over them  with some gesso. This allows some of the colour to come through but gives the mist something to stick to as some of the Thickers are glossy, glittered, or vinyl. I made sure to do the same procedure to the title Thickers at the same time, so it all matches. Once it is all dry, then I adhered the top piece with dimensional adhesive. The process takes a bit of time, but it's a lot of fun!

I did a fast and rough machine stitching with gold metallic thread around the diecut three to finish it off and give it more definition against all the small threes. This page is quite a bit bumpy and a bit warped from the mist and gesso, but I don't mind. Once I put it in the album, it won't be as noticeable.

Be sure to check out all the cool projects that the Design Team created over at SOUS. We'd love to see what you create using diecut numbers on your projects.

Thanks for looking!
