Hello Sunshine

Hi there,

I'm up today with a page that is loosely based on a the June Sketch from Creative Scrapbooker Magazine and for a June challenge submission over at Paper Issues.

I started with this sketch.  I was inspired to us an old wave transparency from Fancy Pants. It was a scrap from a 12x12 transparency that was a scrap from another project. Using the transparency as a template, I cut papers from Fancy Pants "Down by the Shore" and Crate Paper "Oasis" to make more waves.

The Paper Issues challenge was to use certain items on a layout from a list provided. The items I used were: blue, tag, button, title, 2 or more photos, patterned paper, die cut, stamping, and circle.

The sun is cut from a Paper Issues cut file which I inked with Fossilized Amber Distress Ink and then covered in gold Stickles. I used more Fossilized Amber and water to make the splatters and paint smooshing.

This layout came together relatively quickly (even though I had to wait for the Stickles to dry). And I'm so happy to use up some older supplies.

Thanks for looking!

let's get away

Hi there!

I'm up today with the title page for a new vacation album of our recent trip to Cuba. When I saw this cut file from Paper Issues, I knew it would be perfect for this page.

This album will be made using mostly the Crate Paper "Oasis" line, but I also plan on digging through my stash and using some Fancy Pants "Down by the Shore" and Crate Paper "The Pier". I have lots of papers and embellishments left over from previous vacation albums and I think it's time to use it or lose it.  Luckily, it all seems to work together (especially the Crate Paper lines), so I should be able to make a dent in my summer/beach supplies.

There is nothing earth shattering here. The clouds were cut with my Silhouette and then backed with Oasis 6x6 paper pack.  The 3x4 card is from Pink Paislee Atlas.  The solid white clouds are machine stitched to give the page a bit more texture. This is where I discovered that I can not sew curves.  LOL!

I have to confess that I hate this photo of myself, but it's the only one we took on the plane. I'm going to be a big girl and post it on the world wide web. ;) Because I really do like the page.

Thanks for looking!

Not All Who Wander Are Lost

Hi there!

I took a bit of a blogging and scrapping break. I find summer a difficult time to scrapbook. There's always so much to do outside, both socially and chore-wise that scrapping time is at a premium! But, in 15 minute increments, I was able to get these two pages done. ;)

I started with this page by using the hiking map as the background. It was a really large map, so I just used a piece of cardstock as a template to cut it down to size.  Since the paper for the map was quite thin, I sewed it to the piece of cardstock. My sewing machine is acting up and the tension is really off. I swear I'm a much better sewer than that! My machine is 28 years old so it might be getting tired.  :(

The title is cut from Paper Issues.  I love their free cut files! The photos were printed on my Selphy using the Project Life App.  They are about 2x3.  Because the map may not be acid free, I made sure to mat all the photos on scrapbooking patterned paper and then double matted them on cardstock.  I don't really worry about archival issues that much, but in this instance, I didn't want to take any chances.

This page started with a Silhouette cut file for the background. The edges where inked with my favourite Vintage Photo Distress Ink to give the cuts definition. I splattered the solid piece of cardstock with green, blue and brown mist.  In real life, it kind of looks like leaves.

The rest of the page is pretty simple. Most of the supplies are from the Carta Bella Great Outdoors. Once again, I didn't have a lot of embellishments left in the package, so I bought the digital files and used the print and cut feature on my Silhouette.  It's an inexpensive way of stretching my supplies, without spending a lot of money.

I hope to be back next week with another page.  But, the flower beds need weeding and the mountains are calling, so I'm not making any promises.  ;)
